The web site for Susan Rose...writer and business tycoon

> > >
Welcome to RoseBud, the site where inquiring minds can find out what's new with me, Susan Rose. I started this site to keep my friends and family up-to-date on the progress of my novel, Confessions of a Frog Kisser. Since publishing the book, this site has morphed into whatever I feel like making it at any given time! To find out a little more about me and my goings on, take a look through the site. I'd love to hear from you, especially if I say something in the blog that strikes a chord. So drop me a line anytime.

Thanks

I want to thank everyone who has been passing out postcards for Frog Kisser and talking it up for me...your support is amazing, and your gorilla tactics are working.

I especially want to thank Ginny, who says she's been literally grabbing people on the street and telling them they must buy the book. I believe she is really doing this, and it's great. I just hope she doesn't get arrested. Although, perhaps there is an untapped market for the book in the Colorado Springs lock up.

Barry is also spreading the word. He hosted a lunch seminar this week on a topic completely unrelated to dating, women, or frogs. After the formal presentation was over, he announced my book to the room of twenty potential readers. I got a few sales. It was very, very cool.

So, I just wanted to take a moment and say thanks. With trying to keep Two Sisters Creative profitable and getting my new book written, I don't have much time for promoting Frog Kisser. It means a lot to know there are wonderful people out there doing it for me.

Open for Book Clubs

Are you, or any of your friends, in a book club? I've got a proposition for you then. If your book club reads Confessions of a Frog Kisser, I will come to your meeting to answer questions and discuss the book. Especially if you're in Hawaii. I can deduct that for business, right?

Okay, if you're outside the DC metro area, I'll phone in or something. But the point is, I'll be there to answer any questions your group has, talk about the truth behind the fiction, and just about anything else you all want to discuss.

Why do I want to do this? I'll admit the obvious...to sell the book. But I've also been having a blast talking to people about their dating experiences. I'm not as alone as I've always felt. It's fun sitting around a group and talking about it.

So drop me a line. Happy reading.

PS: Happy St. Patrick's day to all you Irish. Wish me luck on my date tonight. I don't think this one is a frog!

Cheap Thrills

Now that Confessions of a Frog Kisser is roaming about in the universe, I have found a whole new set of things to do instead of working on my new book. This week's cheap thrill was seeing where my book landed on various search engines.

Do a search for Frog Kisser and see what happens. This morning, I'm number 1 on Dogpile. I'm only number 4 on Google.

Please buy more books so I can be number 1 everywhere! Or at least troll around the Internet searching for the book. Because, I'll tell you, it is really cool to see my book come up in the top slots.

I also finally visited www.susanrose.com this week to see who has that domain. That Susan Rose makes beautiful quilts.

My other major cheap thrill this week has been checking the MySpace account I started. MySpace is a free community building site where you can joing groups, e-mail people, and generally feel like you have a social life without leaving your house. I joined for the discussion forums. Several men in Egypt think I joined so I could marry them. Ugh. It's interesting, though. And a really great way to procrastinate.

Oddly, despite all the diversions, I have been working on the mystery. It's coming along nicely and I hope to start submitting it to agents in April.

Unintended Results

Here's the truth...I did not write my book in an effort to meet men.

Alas, the trials and tribulations of my heroine have piqued the interest of a male audience, something I admit I did not see coming. It's sweet, and I hope my book offers some insight into how women perceive some of the things guys do. And some insight into why women react they way they do to these things. Or at least offer a chuckle or two.

So, who knows. Maybe I'll meet a prince as a result of writing this book. (Although any married man who pursues me will automatically be put into the Frog category. Come on guys. No.) If the guy reads the book first, he'll know what he's dealing with when he takes me on. That could be pretty intersting, and not a bad unintended result of doing something that made me feel good.

Me on my wedding day. I was just a little bit happy.
