The web site for Susan Rose...writer and business tycoon

> > >
Welcome to RoseBud, the site where inquiring minds can find out what's new with me, Susan Rose. I started this site to keep my friends and family up-to-date on the progress of my novel, Confessions of a Frog Kisser. Since publishing the book, this site has morphed into whatever I feel like making it at any given time! To find out a little more about me and my goings on, take a look through the site. I'd love to hear from you, especially if I say something in the blog that strikes a chord. So drop me a line anytime.

My Arbonne

Question: How does a writer make a living?
Answer: Doing something else.

The same question can apply to owning a small graphic design agency. I love Two Sisters Creative, but I barely make enough money with it to support myself. Making time to write means I can't really work more hours on the company (and I don't want to). So what is a poor girl to do?

Join the Arbonne International team and sell holistic personal care products, that's what.

I'm very excited about this new job. I get to introduce people to a line of pure, safe, and beneficial products, helping them replace the things they're using every day with products that are truly pure. We've got skin care, shampoo, makeup, multi-vitamins...all sorts of wonderful, botanically based products. Check out my Arbonne web site to learn more. In short, it's a wonderful company with wonderful opportunity, and I'm very excited. It will also nurture the inner team builder in me, giving me a way to mentor employees without actually having employees. How great is that?

So, if you're shopping for shampoo or suntan lotion this holiday weekend, puruse my Arbonne site. If you see something you like, try it out (you can return it if you don't like it). Or better yet, call me and I can drop off some products for you to test before you buy.

Have a wonderful, safe holiday weekend.

A Day for Every Busy Woman

Okay everyone, I am officially REALLY putting myself out there. The exact time and place of this historic (and frightening) event is Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Fairview Marriott in Fairfax, Virginia.

How, you may ask, would hanging out at a hotel on a fine spring day constitute putting myself out there? I'm glad you asked.

I'm going to speak at an event, in front of a lot of strangers. People who do not acutally know me.

I have been invited to participate in an author's workshop at the Day For Every Busy Woman conference. I, along with five or six other authors, will conduct some sort of panel discussion (don't ask me what we're actually doing... the organizers haven't totally decided yet). After that, we will go off to our corners to (hopefully) sell lots and lots of books.

I am alternately excited and terrified by the prospect. Especially since one of the other authors is someone I know and respect, Mary Foley, who is a professional public speaker and all round hysterical person who writes fantastic and motivational business books for women.

Aside from the fact I'll be there hawking my wares, this is going to be a great day. The whole theme is helping women find time to relax and enjoy life. How great is that? I encourage anyone in the DC area to find their way to Fairfax on June 17. Drop by and say hi, I'd love to see you!

More of Sam's Adventures

As I mentioned, Sam set up a profile on MySpace to help educate the masses about Confessions of a Frog Kisser. She's been having a great time meeting new people and blogging about what's going on these days.

Recently, she made a new friend named Prince Frog. He's very cute and green. His personal mission is to analyze and discuss Sam's problems with men and dating. It's pretty funny. I hope it remains funny. The fact is, I have no idea on earth who this person is. Or at least, I don't think I know who it is. I really hope he doesn't turn into some sort of MySpace stalker.

On another note, Sam got her first serious proposition. I had to suggest the eager young man read her profile carefully...he didn't believe her when first she confessed she isn't real. Or maybe he's just looking for a woman who isn't real. I've kept his messages and am sure there is a story in here somewhere!

For those of you in the Washington, DC area: on June 17 I'll be participating in the author's workshop at A Day For Every Busy Woman. It's a fun event and I hope to see you there! I'll post more about it as I get more details.

Happy Cinco de Mayo

Feliz Holidays...assuming Cinco de Mayo is on your official list of days to celebrate. It's not really on mine, I just like saying Cinco de Mayo (insert cute accent and flourish of the hand).

I've spent this week listening to the signs from above that it time to start the Great Agent Search for Ellie. I've been inspired by the success of my friend Kristen, who has started shopping around her new book and gotten a tremendous response (yippee Kristen). Then I found out about the Evil Editor, who has been critiquing query letters. Yes, I've spent a fair amout of time reading the whole blog because it is so darn funny.

My little Frog Kisser continues to chug along. I want to do some speaking engagements for book clubs, so if you're in one or know of one...well, you know what to do. Check out the new web site for the book too.

Adios mis amigos.
