Welcome to RoseBud, the site where inquiring minds can find out what's new with me, Susan Rose. I started this site to keep my friends and family up-to-date on the progress of my novel, Confessions of a Frog Kisser. Since publishing the book, this site has morphed into whatever I feel like making it at any given time! To find out a little more about me and my goings on, take a look through the site. I'd love to hear from you, especially if I say something in the blog that strikes a chord. So drop me a line anytime.

Time Flies

Oh, uh, hi everyone. Seems I kind of checked out of here for a while. I didn't realize it had been so long since my last post until a few of my "fans" asked me what's going on. (Thank you "fans" for reading me :))

I'd love to say I have a great excuse for my absense, such as I was on a global book tour with Frog Kisser. Alas, that tour is not yet on the schedule. But a lot of other things are. Between working my two jobs, taking a few classes, and dating a wonderful new guy, I've been a tad busy. My writing has completely fallen to the wayside. Not an excuse, I know. But there it is.

What do you do to keep the balance and make sure things you value don't get dropped when your life gets a little hectic?

No Respect?

I often wonder why I'm a writer/editor. My profession gets no respect. Even the people who claim to respect what I do often don't. I sat in a meeting this week where a group of professionals (not writers) bemoaned the fact that everyone thinks they can do what these professionals do, and how frustrating it is. When it came time in the meeting for us to discuss who we could get to write some feature articles for a magazine, they unanimously claimed that their collegues (none of whom are writers) could do it in a snap.

Did they not see the irony? Yes, many people can write. But writing a professional feature article is not the same thing as writing a blog entry. I know. I've done both.

Sigh.

Well, I feel better getting that off my chest. Now I have to figure out how to deal with the fact that I'm likely to have a bunch of amatuers writing for me, and how I'm going to handle the missed deadlines and off-topic stories. Maybe I'll deal with that tomorrow.

Me on my wedding day. I was just a little bit happy.
