Welcome to RoseBud, the site where inquiring minds can find out what's new with me, Susan Rose. I started this site to keep my friends and family up-to-date on the progress of my novel, Confessions of a Frog Kisser. Since publishing the book, this site has morphed into whatever I feel like making it at any given time! To find out a little more about me and my goings on, take a look through the site. I'd love to hear from you, especially if I say something in the blog that strikes a chord. So drop me a line anytime.

The Sequel

Sam's story is going to continue. At least, I've got three pages of outline that say there might be a sequel there. Yep, I've started working on Adventures of a Recovering Frog Kisser. I'd like to say it will be in stores in time for the holidays, and it might...Christmas 2008, that is. I wish I wrote faster, but alas, I'm pokey.

I'm open to ideas for this new book. Tell me what you would like to see happen with Sam or any of her friends. I've got some ideas, but there are plenty of blanks. I'm curious to know what you think. Sam is too.

Summertime Blues...

...or colds, rather. I'd love to be writing a perky, happy post right now. Alas, I've got a wicked cold and I think my head might actually explode. I think I'm going back to bed as soon as I finish this. Summer colds are the worst because it just seems so wrong to be sniffly when it's hot and the sun is shining. I blame air conditioning on my current state.

I hope everyone reading this is happy and healthy and having a wonderful summer!

Book Clubs Rock

I spoke to my first book club this week and it was so, so great! There were a dozen or so women there, most of whom had actually read Frog Kisser (I was told that was only the second time most people had read the book). Words can not described how touched and honored I felt to look around the room and see all these cool women holding my book and wanting to ask me questions about it. It was so much fun discussing my story with them. I've been on a high all week.

And they had chocolate martinis! (I passed on that...I still can't drink them after the bachelorette party.)

What I most enjoyed was how some of the women noticed things in the book that I hadn't noticed when I was writing...things about people's behavior that made sense as the story ended. It made me think of Sam in a new way, and that was pretty cool. We also talked about a possible sequel and some possibilities for it. We'll see...

So, the point of this story is: I love book clubs. I would love to speak to more of them. If you have one, or know of one, I'll be happy to come to a meeting (well...if it's in the general DC area) or call in. Please. I need another fix.

Another Gorgeous Day

The birds are chirrping, the sun is shining, and I have a cup of coffee in my hand (well, okay, technically I'm not holding it at this exact moment). Does life get better? I'm relaxing before what promises to be a crazy work day starts. Funny how Fridays can be that way.

I haven't done much in the writing realm this past week. In fact, I think I'm on a hiatus. I didn't intend to go on one, it just happened. It's in part because I'm trying to get this Arbonne business up and running, and in part because I don't feel very inspired to write. It just seems so hard and daunting. I'm sure I'll get over this feeling. I just need to cut myself a break. I've been working hard when what I really need to do is enjoy the fact that we've got another gorgeous, humidity free day on our hands here in DC.

Moral of the story: It's okay to play hookey sometimes.

Me on my wedding day. I was just a little bit happy.
