Welcome to RoseBud, the site where inquiring minds can find out what's new with me, Susan Rose. I started this site to keep my friends and family up-to-date on the progress of my novel, Confessions of a Frog Kisser. Since publishing the book, this site has morphed into whatever I feel like making it at any given time! To find out a little more about me and my goings on, take a look through the site. I'd love to hear from you, especially if I say something in the blog that strikes a chord. So drop me a line anytime.

What's up with Froggie

In the past week, I've recieved several signs that it's time to refocus some energy on promoting Frog Kisser.

The first sign was at a wedding last Saturday. The groom has (not entirely jokingly) told the bride she had to read a book, cover to cover, before he'd marry her. She chose Confessions of a Frog Kisser (possibly because she's a friend of mine, or possibly to send her finace a subtle message that she thought he was acting a little froggish). At the reception, the groom gave me a big hug and told me my book was the reason he'd been able to get married. He made this declaration through the hugest grin I have ever seen on someone's face. Perhaps reading the book made the bride realize what a wonderful, sweet man she had.

Then, throughout this last week, I've gotten random feedback about the book...this after several months of hearing nothing. My dad's dentist read it and thinks it should be a movie; a MySpace friend said he'd seen it listed as several people's last read (!); and another long-lost friend surfaced to tell me how it'd helped her get through her re-entry into the dating world.

This is all so cool. Now I just have to figure out how to magnify it! I've discovered how to do the mass marketing on MySpace that I see all the time. Now I have to do it. That's my commitment. By the time I post next week, I will have a strategy in place, ready to launch in October. Any other ideas are welcome :)

I'm a Believer!

I'll admit it, I always thought writing down goals was kind of silly. I didn't see how that could help anything. Perhaps that's why I spent my twenties and thirties floundering about for my path.

Today I not only believe in writing goals down, I believe in reading them every day and telling others what they are. Because a funny thing happens...when I write them down, they happen. Go figure.

Last week I posted my Arbonne goals on this blog. Since then, I've signed up one person to join me in the business, and have three more who are seriously looking at the opportunity. I believe all three will join me before the end of the month, perhaps even before the end of the weekend. Wow.i88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888uu7 (my little gray cat Sid says "Hi")

Now I've got goals written for every area of my life, and it feels fantastic. Oddly, I don't have a writing goal on that list. I'm not sure what that means, except for a feel a need to get my income-producing life in order right now. However, I did do some research on how to market on MySpace, so in the next few weeks I will be doing a Frog Kisser campaign. My goal there is to sell 5,000 copies of the book. See...a written goal. Now it will happen.

I would love to hear from you about your goal setting. What do you want in your life in the next year? Write in down on my blog and make it happen.

My Challenge

My apologies for forgetting to post on Friday. I was in Orlando attending the Arbonne ActNow conference and getting all fired up to change my life, obtain financial freedom, and spend my remaining days making my dreams come true.

I've come back from the conference ready to tackle the challenge my amazing Regional Vice President set for me (well, not just for me, but...): if I make Area Manager by December 1, 2006, she'll pay my passage on a four-day cruise. What fun!

This is an attainable goal, but not an easy one. I need help. There are two things that must happen for this to become a reality for me.
1. I need to find four smart, motiviated people who are ready to do something different to change their lives. Preferably, I'll find these people by the end of September.
2. I need to sell lots and lots of product. As the Holidays approach, this should be too difficult. We have an amazing Holiday product line that makes great gifts. Check it out on my Arbonne web site.

I truly believe that being involved with Arbonne is changing my life, and that there is no dream or goal I can't reach as a result of it. I've never been surrounded by so many positive, optimistic people. It's great. I want to share it with everyone I know. There is room for ALL of us at the top! Drop me a line if you want to know more ;)

A Writer Without a Word

I have a huge admission to make...I have no interest in writing right now. Not the best thing for a writer. In addition to the lack of fodder for this blog, not writing means I'm not getting anything written.

So, what have I been doing with my considerable free time, besides staring at my navel? Well, staring at my navel while I'm belly dancing. Yep, you read that right. I took a class at the community center this summer and loved it. I even loved the little recital we did at the end of class. Considering my shyness in front of audiences, that took me a bit by surprise. So, I signed up to take a class at THE belly dancing school in DC. I start this weekend. Wahoo!

I have faith that I'll ultimately find my way back to the computer and my fancy story plotting software. Surely there is a story somewhere at the dance studio.

I'm Back...Again

What a weekend. I just got back from Rhode Island a few hours ago, and am slowly unpacking my things again.

What, you may ask, was I doing in Rhode Island?

I was taking a huge risk, that's what.

I'm unsure of the outcome of my risk, which is a bit of a bummer. I was really hoping I'd sail home on cloud 9 this afternoon. Alas, that's not how things went. But, the point is that I ran toward the risk and I did a little of that thing called living this weekend.

By now you've probably guessed that the risk involved a man. A very, very good, decent man. I met him on vacation, and he invited me to visit. The old, pre-Frog Kisser book, Susan would have constructed a million reasons why it was stupid to even think for one minute that that trip was worth taking. But the post-Frog Kisser Susan is ready to put her heart on the line. I locked all my expectations in a closet and just went with the flow. Things did not always flow in a direction that I liked, but that's life, isn't it?

I have no idea if I'll see this guy again for a variety of reasons that I have no desire to discuss on a public blog. I hope I do. I really, really hope I do. But even if this weekend was all we end up having together, it was worth it. Taking a risk is worth it.

Me on my wedding day. I was just a little bit happy.
